Memorial School

Crowds attended the training grounds of the 176th Battalion in 1916, shortly before the battalion was mobilized to fight in World War I. To commemorate the fallen from that war, Memorial School was dedicated in 1922. The school later expanded, with additional classrooms and an auditorium. They were known for many years for their "Memorial Harmonica Band", which won first prize at the CNE.

The school closed in 1981, and is currently home to the Canadian Legion Branch 479.
