William J. Woon and J.C. Bradley purchased the Spring Water Bottling Works on Ferry Street in 1929, and decided to bottle soft drinks instead of spring water. By 1936 they had incorporated the name “Niagara Dry”.  Niagara Dry Ginger Ale and several other flavours of soft drinks were bottled there. The bottles had images of the falls on them, and were great advertising for the city.  The bottling department was at the front of the building, and pedestrians could watch the process through plate glass windows.

Pepsi Cola bought the business in 1955, and continued operation until 1971. They made Pepsi, Niagara Dry Ginger Ale and many Crush products, like Orange Crush. After the bottling and distribution was relocated to Toronto and St. Catharines, the Ferry St. plant was torn down. The property is currently a parking lot between the Super 8 and the Continental  Inn.
